Bead & Wire Crane. A mix of #STEAMjunk project and classical origami.

Crank the paper-clip wire handle to make the origami crane fly.

The project starts with a classic origami crane, full instructions for both the origami bird and the mechanism are provided in the pdf download.

Classic Origami Crane

The mechanism that brings the crane to life is made from five paper clips, five beads and a brass block cut from a terminal strip. The parts bend, fold and fasten together to make a crank mechanism that lifts the body up and down flapping the wings as it does so.

The finished project is a fun mix of origami and #STEAMjunk (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Maths junk modelling)
