I’ve been calling these corrugated‑card projects 2.5D, not completely flat and two‑dimensional, but not fully 3D either. This one is a little different though because of the way it stands upright on its base board.
Perhaps that makes it 2.5D+?
The project is made from corrugated card. The parts are printed onto ordinary printer paper, glued to a sheet of corrugated card with a Pritt Stick or similar, then carefully cut out. Split pins (brads in the US) act as the axles, bringing the model to life once everything is assembled. I’ve been using thin corrugated card with a fine corrugation for these projects. It is known as e-flute card and is 1.5mm thick.
The Geared Goose has been a fun little project to design and make, and I hope you enjoy it just as much. I’m already thinking about where this idea might lead next, a pecking hen, perhaps, complete with googly eyes. It feels like a natural (and rather entertaining) extrapolation from this mechanism.
