Just a short newsletter this week as I’ve been travelling. I was lucky enough to be invited to Santiago de Compostela, Spain where I presented a talk and ran some workshops at the Polos Creativos education event. It was great to meet everyone there, thank you for making me feel so welcome!

And so to the newsletter featuring the Hen Pecked paper animation project

Craft your very own paper animation kit and immerse yourself in an eternal dance of destiny. As you turn the handle, as the hen and worm come to life, their fates hanging in the balance. Will the worm manage to escape, or will the hungry hen finally get a tasty meal? The suspense builds with each turn of the crank, and just when it seems all is lost, the clever worm miraculously slips away to safety, narrowly avoiding the pecking beak of the persistent hen. Download the kit, assemble the characters, and be captivated by the suspenseful story that unfolds with each turn of the handle.

The project comes as a downloadable pdf ready to print out onto card on your own printer.

All the parts, ready to download.

Cut out the parts and assemble the mechanism following the online instructions.

Paper crank

The mechanism is based around a crank and a bell crank linked together to time the character’s movement to perfection.

Hen Pecked!
