With apologies for the recent lack of content, I’ve been working hard on a couple big projects, of which more soon. Thanks for your patience, I promise it’ll be worth the wait!
In my spare time I’m prepping for a session at the upcoming EMFcamp at the end of the month where I’m running a workshop titled “Making automata from paper clips and beads” Two of the possible projects for that workshop are shown below, let me know what you think and hopefully I’ll get to meet you at the camp!
Shooting Star:
An out of this world project made from beads, paper-clips and a terminal block. This project uses a crank slider mechanism to move the star in a circular up and down path. Make the project as a complete model or use the mechanism as a starting point for your own creative automata. As always, paid subscribers to this newsletter can download the pdf instructions and templates at the end of the page.
Thanks for your support. The project is also available on the www.robives.com website.
Flying Man:
A fun project made from wire and beads and a few other bits and pieces. Crank the wire handle and make the Flying Man fly! Follow the instructions to make your own or use the mechanism as a starting point to make your own flying character.
The project comes as a downloadable pdf with printable parts, templates and step by step instructions.
The download is available at the end of this newsletter for paid subscribers and from the robives.com website
Brother International Creative Center
I was pleased to be asked to design a handful of new projects for the Brother Creative Center. All the projects are free to download, print out and make from the Brother International website. Click on the images below to find out more. Have fun!
