A new project for you to download and make!

Paper Record Player

Video clip on Bluesky | Instagram

Designed to play 7” 45rpm singles the paper record player uses an ordinary fine sewing needle as the stylus, the rest of the project is made from card. Turn the crank handle and the record turns.

Name that tune!

The stylus follows the spiral groove on the single picking up the vibrations and sending them down the tone arm then out through the horn. All the parts and the step by step instructions are available as a downloadable pdf file.

If you are a paid subscriber to this newsletter you can download the pdf at the bottom of this page, thank you for your support! Subscribers to www.robives.com can download it there. Non-members can join in the fun for £6 or equivalent here.

The pinion gear has nine teeth and the main gear has twenty four. Turning the crank twice a second turns the record at 45rpm - perfect!

I do hope that you enjoy making this paper project as much as I’ve enjoyed designing it. Please don’t use it on your precious collectors item singles just in case! I have found charity shops to be a good place to pick up all sorts of cheap singles.

Please do consider becoming a paid member of this newsletter, it is that kind of support that means that I can keep producing new projects for you to enjoy. Thank you!
