Here’s a fun new project for you to download and make using a mix of Bead & Wire mechanism and a new-to-me material, polymer clay. Turn the crank handle and the wire mechanism drives the cute penguin side to side in an enthusiastic skiing movement.
It has been a fun project to design and make and I reckon that polymer offers all sorts of possibilities for future projects - keep an eye open for that!
The project comes as a downloadable pdf file with templates and step by step illustrated instructions. If you are a paid subscriber to this newsletter you can download the file at the bottom of the page - thanks for your support! It is also available on robives.com either free for members there or for £5 or equivalent for non-members to join in the fun
The penguin is made from three different colours of polymer clay, shaped then baked to make the finished character.
The mechanism uses a crank in a slot to move the penguin side to side. The various wire parts are fashioned from paper clip wire with instructions provided in the downloadable file.
